Synopsis
On the surface Veronika has it all; youth and beauty, an attentive boyfriend and a fulfilling job. Yet she is still not happy and so one cold winter's morning she takes an overdose of sleeping pills expecting never to wake up. But she does - at a mental hospital where she is told she only has days to live.

The audience then follows her through these intense, emotional days as Veronika starts to question the meaning of how her life should be. She comes to realise that every second of her existence is a choice we all make between
living and dying. Bold and illuminating, this is a dazzling portrait of a woman at the crossroads of despair and

Director
Emily Young won a BAFTA as the Most Promising Newcomer for her direction of Kiss of Life starring Peter Mullan.

The tragic story showcased Young's ability to handle serious and sensitive themes in a thought provoking way.

Das Films was founded in 2007 by Sriram Das. Sriram has subsequently optioned a number of books and currently has 15 projects in development. Sriram optioned Veronika 'because it's a great book, and the story is totally relevant to today's youth';.
